Scott Willis Named New Zinwave CEO, Ian Sugarbroad to Retire

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Scott D. Willis as the new Chief Executive Officer of Zinwave, effective January 4, 2016. Ian Sugarbroad will step down from his current role on January 4, but will work closely with Scott on a full-time basis for several months to facilitate the transition of his responsibilities. During this period he will move to the role of Vice-Chairman of Zinwave and will remain a member of the Zinwave executive team. Once the transition is complete, Ian will report to Key Foster in a special advisory role where he will provide input on a wide range of strategic, technical, and operational matters that relate both to Zinwave and to McWane Technology Group. This role will enable Ian to take his first step toward his long-term plan to retire to Florida with his wife, Dominique.

Scott joins us from Goodman Networks, where he was Executive Vice President, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer. He brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and relationships developed over his 30-year career in the telecommunications industry. Scott previously worked for Ericsson, Nokia, BellSouth, Sprint, and several smaller global corporations in the communications field.

Scott has led a number of large global businesses over the course of his extensive career. He is recognized as a strong sales and marketing executive with a proven track record in market-leading sales growth. He has extensive general management experience setting strategic direction, confecting corporate alliances, and overseeing complex operations for both large and small organizations. He also has built and grown new businesses to significant scale. We are confident that Scott’s leadership capabilities and experience in our target market segments (operator, neutral host, and enterprise) will help Zinwave seize the significant growth opportunities that are within our grasp.

Scott graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in finance, received his MBA from Wake Forest University, and received continuing executive education certificates from the graduate schools of business at Stanford and Columbia. Scott will be based in Dallas, TX, where he lives with his wife (Kelley), daughter (Savannah), and son (Chance).

Zinwave Develops Next-Generation Unified Connectivity Solution

We are proud to announce that Zinwave has developed a next-generation connectivity solution that will integrate their wideband active DAS technology with IP capabilities to deliver an end-to-end system that supports cellular, wi-fi, location based services (LBS), and IP communications on a single, converged infrastructure. This new solution is called UniTivity.

By using UniTivity, users can reduce their installation and equipment costs because they will not have to rip and replace existing networks. UniTivity will also support any service mix, protocol or modulation scheme, between 150MHz-2700Mhz, on a single hardware layer.

The POI simplifies and improves the reliability of the connection to base stations by removing the need for a customer built-multi-component interface for each implementation. The Site Controller will also improve system management processes by providing a single aggregation point for the monitoring, configuration and alarming for all Zinwave hardware deployed within a building or campus.

Because of the large number of smartphones in use today, current networks are struggling to keep pace with the bandwidth demands and there is a growing need for equipment providers to deliver systems that support mobile, wi-fi and IP services on a single unified infrastructure.

Zinwave Wideband DAS Enhances Network Coverage in Sports Stadiums and Arenas

Zinwave distributed antenna system (DAS) is becoming system of choice for high density buildings

With Smartphone ownership on the increase and wireless broadband services more prevalent, sports enthusiasts expect unlimited access to 4G services after purchasing tickets to watch their favorite teams play live in major league tournaments like the FIFA World Cup.

Large stadiums usually have seating capacities in excess of 60K and mobile operators are finding it increasingly difficult to provide uninterrupted access to data services during live events. Networks frequently jam up as spectators share their experiences in real time and these venues require a not only dedicated coverage but also dedicated capacity to address these issues.

Zinwave’s distributed antenna system (DAS) is being increasingly selected as the system of choice by stadium owners and neutral host providers. Its wideband capabilities are enabling these high density venues to overcome interference, soft handover and capacity management challenges and better manage peaks and troughs in network traffic.

Zinwave’s wideband DAS (known as Zinwave 3000) is the only system on the market that is truly future-proof, supporting any combination of services between 150MHz -2700MHz, regardless of protocol or modulation scheme. Zinwave and Comtech Korea Join Forces to Simplify In-building Connectivity

Joint development project demonstrates Zinwave’s intention to become a leading supplier of wideband Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS)

 

Zinwave Ltd, global providers of distributed antenna systems (DAS) for in-building wireless coverage, announced today it is working on a joint project with its sister company, Comtech Korea, to develop a future-proof Point of Interface (POI) device for in-building DAS installations. Senior staff from both companies will be available to discuss the project at CommunicAsia, taking place in Singapore from 17-20 June. Zinwave can be found on booth number BQ3-01 in the UK Pavilion.

This announcement demonstrates Zinwave’s on-going commitment to accelerate product development and research into next-generation in-building solutions, further to its acquisition by McWane Inc, a privately held manufacturing company based in the US and owners of a global group of wireless technology companies.

Comtech Korea specializes in designing and developing macro and in-building coverage extension solutions for the mobile operators and systems integrators. The company has quickly secured business with major Korean and Japanese operators and is now expanding into the US.

Jointly designed by Zinwave and Comtech, the compact, high-performance, POI device will sit at the head-end between the base station and the distributed antenna system. It will simplify connectivity to base stations by eliminating the need for complex multi-component interface implementation systems.

The POI device will be supplied alongside Zinwave’s unique wideband DAS, enabling systems integrators and neutral host providers to offer an end-to-end solution to mobile network operators (MNO), building owners and enterprise customers. Its dynamic monitoring tools (operable onsite or remotely via a web browser) will, when installed with Zinwave’s 3000 DAS, enable a fully monitored, alarmed and configurable coverage solution. The management utility also enables the POI to operate independently, which provides an opportunity to use the unit as the manageable head-end to smaller passive networks.

Zinwave’s in-building DAS is the only system on the market that is truly future-proof, supporting any combination of services and frequencies between 150MHz and 2700MHz, regardless of modulation scheme or protocol, on a single hardware layer. The high performance POI device will also support all existing and emerging frequencies and services, including FDD and TDD LTE.

McWane Technology Acquires Zinwave Ltd.

We are proud to announce that the McWane Technology group is further expanding their global footprint by acquiring Zinwave Ltd. Zinwave Ltd, a leading global supplier of in-building wireless coverage solutions, announced on February 3rd, its sale to McWane, Inc., a privately-held diversified manufacturing company based in the United States.

McWane’s financial strength and international status will allow Zinwave to invest in commercial and technical resource, customer service, customer support, geographical presence and infrastructure. It will also allow Zinwave to accelerate its product development and enhancement programs, thus ensuring that it maintains its competitive edge in fiber-based RF coverage solutions for existing and emerging markets.

Zinwave’s in-building wideband active DAS is the only solution available in the market place that supports all cellular and public safety services (including any variant of the new LTE services) on a single hardware layer. Zinwave’s DAS supports any combination of services, between 150MHz and 2700MHz, regardless of protocol or modulation scheme.

Becoming part of a global organisation will enable Zinwave to increase its overall share of the rapidly growing DAS market, which is predicted to grow by more than 300% in the US alone over the next five years according to a recent report published by iGR Research.
