Christopher Hyche, son of Chris Hyche, Plant Engineering Manager, at Tyler Union in Anniston, Alabama loves soccer. Following his passion, he attended the FC Barcelona (FCB) soccer training camp in Birmingham, Alabama this past summer. After the camp, he was selected to join an elite group of players from across the USA to go to Barcelona and train with the FCB coaches and staff at one of the greatest soccer clubs in the world.
Christopher trained at the FCB training grounds in the mornings and traveled around Spain to play against top Division 1 La Liga academy teams in the afternoons. This was a big challenge for a group that had never practiced together, but they won their 3rd game and almost defeated the top team in Spain. It was an opportunity of a lifetime to learn from the best coaches and play against top Spanish academies. As an added bonus, Christopher got to meet and talk with FCB player Andre Gomes.
But that’s not all. They also attended games at Camp Nou, Barcelona’s legendary home stadium. On night one, Barcelona defeated RCD Espanyol 5-0, in a game that included a hat trick by Lionel Messi, the top ranked soccer player. They went on to defeat Juventus, the top team in Italy in the UEFA Champions’ League, on night two. This was one of the biggest soccer games of the year and was an epic way to end an amazing experience.
