Clow Valve Company Recognizes Team Service

This spring, Clow Valve Company celebrated the service and dedication of 56 team members with years of service ranging from 5 all the way up to 45. To recognize these team members, Clow held awards banquet ceremonies in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Corona, California, and at the National Sales Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona.
 
Clow Corona’s awards banquet was held on February 28th at Taps Fish House & Brewery Corona. Approximately 15 Clow Corona team members and their families along with several Clow Oskaloosa team members enjoyed a night filled with great food and even better company.
 
On April 26, approximately 80 Oskaloosa team members, joined by friends and family, attended the awards banquet held at the Musco Technology Center on the William Penn University Campus in Oskaloosa. Attendees were treated to a delicious meal catered by Sodexo. General Manager Mark Willett, Chief Talent Strategist Tiffany Tremmel, supervisors and Plant Managers expressed their appreciation for the team’s dedicated service and presented service awards.
 
Also in April, Clow recognized three Sales team members for their service at the 2018 McWane Valve and Hydrant Group National Sales Convention in Phoenix, Arizona. The focus of the sales meeting was to update new products, engage in growth strategies and learn from one another as well as from the engineering and management teams. Having the opportunity to spend time with coworkers and friends gave the sales team a sense of comradery and energy moving forward to promote and sell the best products in the waterworks industry.
 
Clow has held the Service Awards Banquet for the past four years and will continue to do so every spring to show team members how much we appreciate their service and loyalty to the company. Without our team members, we would not be able to fulfill our mission of being the world’s leading resource for water works products and premier place to work and do business, and providing the world with life sustaining water products though service and manufacturing excellence.

Clow Valve Hosts Foundry Tour For Local Students

On Tuesday, March 27, our Clow Valve facility located in Oskaloosa, Iowa hosted a tour of the metal casting operation for local high school seniors enrolled in industrial technology courses. Maintenance mechanic B.J. Bowie conducted the tour.  The students were particularly interested in learning more about careers, types of jobs and skills needed to work in advanced manufacturing as well as opportunities available in skilled trades.

Clow Valve welcomes any opportunities to show the future workforce our state-of-the-art facilities and educate them about the potential career opportunities that are available in manufacturing and skilled trades.

Clow Valve Company Donates Historical Brass Sign Holders

If you want to know how and why a community is the way it is today, you have to look at its history. The Oskaloosa, Iowa community made the decision to display historical markers throughout the city to showcase the history of the buildings throughout the entire town. Unfortunately, they only had a $100 budget per marker so they relied heavily on local businesses and residents to contribute to the project.
Clow Valve was pleased to have the opportunity to donate the brass sign holders. The first marker was placed at the Oskaloosa Fire Department which was built in 1909.

Clow Valve Wins Judges Choice Award in 2017 Christmas Parade

We are pleased to announce that Clow Valve Company’s entry in the 2017 Oskaloosa, Iowa Christmas Parade won the Judges Choice Award!
 
The theme for this year’s entry was National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. The team was pretty excited because they haven’t come in first place since 2010.
Approximately 20,000 people, almost the entire town, showed up for this year’s parade. They had wonderful weather and a great staff at the Oskaloosa Area Chamber & Development Group pulled off another fantastic celebration. Events like this have a way of bringing the community together.
Clow Valve team member Bob Bateson said, “My biggest gift for managing this float is seeing the joy on the faces of the little ones.”
Big thanks to Roy Winkleman for lending his RV, Steve Davis for “bare”ing the cold to play cousin Eddie (it was a big hit), James Jennings and Kaden Linder (the prince and princess), Julie Isley (local artist) and the other 20+ people that donated their time to work on the winning project.

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley Pays a Visit to Clow Valve

Clow Valve team members were excited to learn that Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley would stop by for a visit on March 20th, and they would have the opportunity to visit with Senator Grassley during his tour of the Machine Shop. While serving as a delegate of the local community to discuss Iowa road improvements on a trip to Washington, D.C., Clow Valve General Manager Jim Wakefield invited Senator Grassley to stop by on his next trip to Oskaloosa for a tour and he called to tell them he would be dropping by in a couple weeks.

Senator Grassley is no stranger to the manufacturing industry having worked as a sheet metal shearer and assembly line worker during his earlier career. He also grew up on a farm in Butler County where he still lives today.

Sentaor Grassley holds the record for the longest record of not missing a vote of any senator currently in office. He makes a point to respond to every phone call, letter and email he receives from Iowans and communicates with them extensively online via Facebook and Twitter, as well as his own website.
