Several team members across the McWane family of companies attended the 31st Annual National VPPPA Conference in Grapevine, Texas, this week. Attendees pictured from left to right:
Attendees attend educational workshops designed to allow participants to exchange the latest best practices, programs, and innovations in occupational health and safety. The conference attracts some of the most innovative manufacturers of environmental, health and safety products and services, which give attendees an opportunity to see the latest and greatest products displayed all in one location.
We are proud that McWane currently has six facilities that have been certified by OSHA as VPP sites, which is evidence of our strong commitment to the best safety practices possible. We are committed to being the best we can be by doing our very best!
The American Foundry Society (AFS) held its 27th annual Environmental, Health and Safety Conference on August 11–13, 2015 in Park City, Utah. The conference was heavily attended by both safety and environmental representatives from multiple McWane facilities as well other foundries from across the United States.
McWane played a big role in the conference by providing several speakers (Mike Parker, Ward Pate, and Jeet Radia) and the conference co-chair (Holly Guerrero) from among the McWane safety and environmental ranks. Also, as part of the conference, our nearby foundry, McWane Ductile–Utah, opened its doors to over forty attendees for a plant tour.
Tyler Pipe and the McWane Plumbing Group were proud to have the opportunity recently to host a plant tour for attendees at a meeting of the Texas State Association of Plumbing Inspectors (TSAPI). The TSAPI held their annual conference in Tyler, Texas, from June 7-11 which included continuing educational programming and other activities both at the conference center and around town. Inspectors from the around state of Texas attended the conference.
A total of 46 participants signed up for lunch and a tour of the Tyler Pipe facility. The tour started with a brief history about Tyler Pipe and safety instructions for the foundry tour. Everyone seemed impressed with Tyler’s manufacturing processes, stringent testing procedures, and quality standards that help make Tyler Pipe the largest producer of cast iron soil pipe in America.
Tyler also hosted a Med Gas class on-site. This training is required in order to maintain a Plumbing Inspector’s License. The old pattern shop provided a nice area where the instructors could demonstrate techniques around a large table.
Team members from Tyler Pipe and the McWane Plumbing Group also participated in activities after-hours which included the President’s dinner, a raffle, and games. EST Representative Victor Hatcher built a custom set of inclined boards so everyone could play a fun game of corn-hole.
At the end of the day, there were numerous compliments about the foundry and the hospitality shown to the association. Gail Lux, president of the association, presented Tyler with a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the TSAPI for their generous time and effort shown.
