Celebration was the theme of the day at Amerex yesterday. They held a VPP flag raising and luncheon catered by Jim N Nicks BBQ for the entire Amerex team to celebrate achieving OSHA VPP Star status. The process to become a member of VPP takes years and cannot be done without the commitment of every single team member. McWane president Ruffner Page and OSHA Area Director Ramona Morris congratulated the team on their hard work and dedication to maintaining a safe workplace.
In his address Mayor Buddy Choat said “Amerex is the rock of this community as far as employers. If you’ve been here your name is associated with quality and dedication.”
McWane is proud to now have seven facilities that have achieved VPP status. Amerex joins McWane Ductile Utah, McWane Ductile Ohio, McWane Ductile New Jersey, Tyler Coupling, Clow Valve and Manchester Tank Elkhart as McWane VPP sites.
Congratulations team Amerex!
At McWane, we are committed to giving back to the communities where our team members live and work. One example of that commitment is AB&I’s adoption of Elmhurst Creek which runs directly behind the AB&I property as part of the Oakland Adopt-a-Spot Program. AB&I’s team members volunteered once again to remove debris from in and around the creek.
Andy Berg and Jesse Tom led the effort recruiting volunteers from different departments. Volunteers worked tirelessly cleaning the creek and picking up approximately 3 yards of trash, including a shopping cart, fire hydrant, plywood, plastic wrappers, and lots of spray paint cans. They also cut down overgrown weeds and bushes, and approximately 10 yards of brush.
Many team members expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to help clean up the creek. This is an example of the AB&I spirit inside and outside the property boundaries.
Special thanks to the volunteers for your commitment to making the Oakland community the best it can be!
We are pleased to announce that Keith Mallett has been promoted to Vice President/General Manager of our McWane Ductile facility located in Phillipsburg, New Jersey.

In 2016, Keith relocated to McWane Ductile New Jersey as the Assistant General Manager. During his time there, Keith and the Phillipsburg team have improved in many key areas while bringing much needed vision and stability.
Congratulations Keith on your new role!
There has been a shortage of skilled workers in manufacturing for several years now, particularly in positions that require more than a high school diploma, but less than a four-year college degree. One way to address this issue and introduce students to the opportunities available in manufacturing is through an internship program. These programs provide knowledge and hands-on experience which students can apply in real world environments.
On April 11, 2018, McWane Ductile Ohio (MDO) celebrated Intern/Co-op Appreciation Day. These interns are a valuable member of the MDO team and we appreciate the work they have done on several very dynamic projects.
U.S. Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa visited Clow Valve on April 30 as part of her 99 Counties tour. It was her first visit to Clow.
Senator Ernst met with GM Mark Willett and his team to discuss a variety of issues affecting Clow including work force development, trade, Buy American, and environmental regulations. After a tour Mark presented Senator Ernst with a miniature commemorative Clow hydrant to display in her Capitol Hill office.
