Clow Valve Company Recognizes Team Service
Tyler Union GFD Department Took March by Storm
Tyler Union’s GFD Department in Anniston, Alabama took the month of March by storm, reaching every goal set for molds per hour and tons per day with ZERO safety or environmental incidents. What is GFD you ask? It’s the shortened name for the George Fisher Disa molding machine which is one of the three molding machines at Tyler Union.
In appreciation for their hard work, GFD team members were treated to a Chick-fil-A luncheon.
Great job!

Tyler Union Shares Environmental Tips with Local 4th Graders
Tyler Union volunteers recently partnered with the Calhoun County Extension Office on Earth Day to staff learning stations designed to reinforce subject matter taught in classrooms in an outdoor setting for over 800 fourth graders. The students had the opportunity to learn about conservation, healthy habits, water safety, safe food preparation and domesticated and wild animals (which was a favorite).
No one was surprised to learn that Frantina Wilson and Mark Vess who stepped up and took over two of the educational stations, for both days, when county employees were called away. Frantina took over the Recycle Relay station while Mark took the Wildlifestation, even the snake handling.

Infrastructure Week 2018
One of the most pressing issues facing our country is the need to upgrade the nation’s water infrastructure. Much of our drinking water infrastructure, the more than one million miles of pipes beneath our streets, is approaching the age at which it needs to be replaced.
The American Water Works Association estimates that restoring existing water systems as they reach the end of their useful lives and expanding them to serve a growing population will cost at least $1 trillion over the next 25 years, if we are to maintain current levels of water service.
May 14-21 is Infrastructure Week 2018 in the U.S. and McWane is proud of the important role we play in our nation’s water infrastructure. Our team members manufacture safe, strong and sustainable ductile iron pipe, valves, fittings and hydrants that deliver water throughout the US and around the world.
News reports from around the US highlight what happens when our water infrastructure is ignored and neglected. During Infrastructure Week 2018, we join the millions of Americans who are urging their elected officials to invest in this critical need, an investment that will pay dividends for future generations. The future won’t wait. Neither can we. It’s time to build.

McWane Ductile Utah are State Champs
We are pleased to announce that the McWane Ductile Utah bowling team of Richard Binks, Kelly Evans, Joe Carter, former employee Rudy Brailsford and David Vazquez were named the 2017-2018 city league champions. This team is great both on and off the job. Congratulations!
Clow Fire Hydrant is a Big Hit at the 2018 COMBEQ Tradeshow:
On May 2-4, the Clow Canada Québec sales team attended the annual 2018 COMBEQ tradeshow. The COMBEQ is a Corporation of Municipal and Environmental Officers of Quebec, and in large part is made up of personnel responsible for public works departments throughout the province of Québec.
One of the regular items on the schedule for the conference is a Thursday evening gala for all attendee’s complete with comedy entertainment. The comedian François Massicotte made a short visit to the booths before his performance, and he took a liking to our fire hydrant display. François made mention of our hydrant many times in his performance that evening, which was welcome advertising for Clow Canada. He even capped the evening off by exclaiming long live fire hydrants, and later he posed with the Québec team for a picture.
What was already an excellent show concluded the following day when Clow Canada was presented the award for being the 2018 COMBEQ exhibitor of the year. It would be hard to have a more successful trade show, but we’ll certainty attempt it next year!
McWane Product Sightings in the Golden and Lone Star State
AB&I team members Jennifer Grundell and her dad, Alfredo Costa recently spotted pipe produced at AB&I while on their family vacation in the Golden State of California at Universal Studios Hollywood, a film studio and theme park located in Los Angeles.
While over in the Lone Star State of Texas, Clow Valve team member James Banicky spotted this Clow hydrant in Dealey Plaza by the book depository in Dallas, Texas where significant evidence of a sniper was found following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
James said, “It’s nice to see that our products are trusted enough to help preserve things that have such a great impact on our great country even to this day.”
Clow Corona Focuses on Improving the Environment in April
Clow Corona team members in Corona, California turned their focus to the environment in April on Earth Day and Arbor Day. Team members and their families volunteered for a clean-up at Citrus State Park on Earth Day to remove brush, dropped fruit and trash around the citrus trees in the state park. At the end of the day the Clow team had cleaned up 35 bags of debris from around the trees. On Arbor Day, volunteers cleaned-up litter and planted various shrubs and flowers in the area surrounding the Clow Corona facility.

McWane Ductile Ohio Lends a Helping Hand in Tuscarawas Township
McWane Ductile Ohio (MDO) volunteers helped clean up the streets of Tuscarawas Township last week as part of its Adopt-A-Road commitment that began in 2012. MDO employees are proud to volunteer their time every six months to help improve the local community.
MDO team members are always looking for opportunities to demonstrate their commitment and willingness to work to improve the quality of life in the local community.
Walk a Mile in My Shoes
Kennedy Valve was proud to have 59 team members and their families participate in the 2018 Walk a Mile in my Shoes suicide prevention and awareness event on May 5.
It was a beautiful day for a walk. Over 2,000 people came out to show their support for this critical issue which is more common than you think and more preventable than you know.
